Remote assurance means connecting technical experts with organisations to conduct an audit or inspection in a safe, flexible and efficient way, remotely.

Remote assurance means connecting technical experts with organisations to conduct an audit or inspection in a safe, flexible and efficient way, remotely. It involves the rapid and secure streaming of high-quality data in what are often low bandwidth conditions, from a smart device, so businesses can collaborate with technical experts anywhere in the world, at any time.

While not a new service for LRQA, COVID-19 has accelerated the demand for remote assurance services as businesses look for alternative ways to ensure the critical assets, infrastructure and products they provide continue to be safe.

Remote assurance can help organisations continue to operate during these extremely challenging times – and beyond. Many of our customers have now trialled remote – and discovered a new and often more efficient way of working. It enables more people to be involved in an audit or inspection than would normally have been practical; it eliminates the time and expense of travel and facilitates a collective reduction in our carbon footprint.

While some business may go back to face-to-face audits and inspections once travel restrictions and social distancing are lifted, for many, remote assurance will become the ‘new normal’.
