How we helped
Trelleborg Group has partnered with LRQA since 1993. Recently, its shipping and infrastructure business unit in Qingdao, China achieved the globally recognised ISO 50001 EnMS certification, awarded by LRQA. This certification demonstrates Trelleborg Qingdao's commitment to international standards in energy management, conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development.
Key achievements
Power innovation: Trelleborg's innovative design in variable speed drive control is set to save 91.6 MWh of electricity annually, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 56 tonnes. This significant achievement contributes positively to their environmental 'green report card'.
Equipment upgrades: To address the excess power consumption of the original DC motor, Trelleborg replaced it with an energy-saving permanent magnet motor. This upgrade has resulted in an annual power saving of 80 MWh for the extruder and VOC equipment, reduced CO2 emissions by 50 tonnes, and saved costs amounting to 4.3 KEUR.
Sunshine project: Maximising the use of 15,000 square metres of idle roof space, Trelleborg launched a large-scale photovoltaic power generation project. By 2023, the photovoltaic systems' total power generation capacity reached 1,736 MWh. This initiative has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,067 tonnes and saved about 1.533 million yuan in electricity bills.
A partnership for excellence
Trelleborg Qingdao's partnership with LRQA has been instrumental in achieving significant milestones in energy management. The ISO 50001 certification underpins their dedication to improving energy performance and contributing to a greener future.
