Paving the way for sustainable business leadership

Shanghai Leadership Series 2024

On November 7, LRQA held its fifth Leadership Series event in Shanghai, marking another milestone in a series of influential gatherings across Asia.

Following prior successful events in Shenzhen and Beijing, this year’s Shanghai series brought together nearly 200 senior executives under the theme, ‘Green intelligence: Embracing ESG and digital innovation’. The event aimed to empower attendees to discuss and lead on key sustainability challenges within the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.

The event gave an in-person, interactive opportunity to gain insights from the LRQA team on ESG risk management, sustainable development, responsible sourcing and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in fostering a greener, more responsible business landscape. Discussions allowed leaders from diverse sectors, including automotive, electronics, telecommunications and more, to share perspectives on challenges, explore cross-over and emerging opportunities.

Global brands attended the event including representatives from LVMH, Target, Starbucks, Primark, AkzoNobel, Disney and Hitachi, alongside executives from sectors such as chemicals, machinery and renewable energy.

Regional LRQA leaders in Greater China, Davis Guan and Du Feng, also took the opportunity to award certificates to several esteemed clients that recently achieved LRQA certification, highlighting their commitment to ESG excellence.

The packed agenda featured sessions including:

  • Kevin Franklin, Chief Growth Officer for LRQA, presented on global trends in ESG and supply chain integrity, emphasising the importance of energy transition and cybersecurity.

  • Yuheng Li, LRQA’s Senior Director of Consulting for APAC, delved into best practices for managing ESG risks throughout the business lifecycle.

  • Kelvin Liang and Simon Pan, LRQA experts in ESG strategy, shared guidance on establishing an integrated ESG control framework and low-carbon development, offering practical, scalable solutions.

  • Wang Tielin, Training and Improvement Manager for LRQA, discussed the role of management systems in advancing client success, while Lin Zuning, an information security specialist, addressed the role of AI in digital transformation.

  • Mandy Kwan and Winnie Hung, consultants specialising in responsible sourcing, discussed innovative approaches to sustainable sourcing and overcoming financial constraints in supply chain management.

The Shanghai event concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to helping clients navigate the evolving ESG landscape and advance toward a more sustainable future, integrating innovation and technology. Attendees were encouraged to leave with actionable insights to empower their teams and drive meaningful change.
